Happy Birthday, Megan!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

And to celebrate we went to the aquarium yesterday to hang out with penguins and sharks. They’ve got a “shark tunnel” there where you walk in an arching tunnel that goes through the (very full) shark tank. It creates a chilling effect that tricks you into thinking that the sharks are swimming all around you. I think  Megan liked the penguins better with their super cute booty shakes, but  this is my favorite photo of the  day.SharkMegan.JPG

Doin’ the Wife Swap Rock

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

So I received an email this week from a producer for the ABC reality show Wife Swap.  He was researching rock camps for kids and got my contact info through Girls Rock Philly.  “Due to the popularity of Rock n’ Roll and all the other forms of music you teach your kids and the culture that comes with it,” he said, “we want to highlight and give the American public an inside look on how a family of musicians, advocates of music education and self expression actually live.”  We ARE talking about a show where wives switch places and trade families, right?  And just the name Wife Swap sounds so classy and respectful, doesn’t it?  Oh yes, this is exactly how we at Girls Rock Philly would like young girls and women to be portrayed!  Yeesh.

Michael Cera - Impossible is the Opposite of Possible

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I was always surprised that among the all star cast in Arrested Development Michael Cera was not only holding his own as the young George Michael, but that he consistently got the bigger laugh from me. But then I realized he had the upper hand on all the adults. The show’s humor traded on discomfort and awkwardness, and he as the square teenager could never be out-awkwarded by any suave grown-ups.
Now that the show is gone (and sorely missed!) I’m hoping that he and his costars go on to do exciting stuff. This clip should be an indication that he’s got the sense to avoid Will Arnet’s mistakes.

The second half of our interview with Phillyist.com is now online in which we talk about our awesome clients and the weird rock opera I was in which had me singing about camera tripods in uncomfortable places.  Read it here.
