Canary Promotion Welcomes Carolyn Huckabay of Philadelphia City Paper as Public Relations Associate

PHILADELPHIA (Dec. 14, 2011) – Philadelphia-based arts and culture communications firm Canary Promotion is bringing arts journalism talent to its team with the appointment of Carolyn Huckabay as its newest Public Relations Associate. Huckabay, who has most recently served as Arts Editor at Philadelphia City Paper, will join the company in January, working with the boutique firm’s arts, culture, entertainment, nonprofit and mission-driven clients.
A leader in cultural communications in the Greater Philadelphia region, Canary Promotion has been providing public relations, marketing and communications consulting services for a decade. Clients have included the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Rosenbach Museum & Library, the University of the Arts’ Ira Brind School of Theater Arts, Lantern Theater Company, DesignPhiladelphia, Fairmount Park Art Association, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Philadelphia Young Playwrights, among many others.

Carolyn Huckabay (@carolynhuckabay) has spent the past five years as an editor at thePhiladelphia City Paper, where she has covered local theater, dance, visual arts, film and literature. A patron of the Philadelphia creative community of her own volition, Huckabay regularly finds herself at museum exhibitions, gallery openings and performing arts productions — and attempts to beat her personal best every year in Live Arts/Fringe shows attended (23 in 2010 is going to be tough to beat, but she will try). In her free time, she plays the French horn, travels, explores Philadelphia’s ever-growing food-iverse and assists in her boyfriend’s home-brewing ventures by taste-testing, and she cannot stop copy editing menus and billboards in her head. “I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to join the Canary team and continue working with engaged, forward-thinking Philadelphians,” Huckabay says.
