Thursday, November 18 – Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, Philadelphia
Founded on the concept of TED, a conference dedicated to the concept of “Ideas Worth Spreading” from Technology, Entertainment, and Design industries, TEDx events are community organized conferences aimed at local audiences. TEDxPhilly chose the theme Right Here, Right Now to celebrate the region while inspiring innovation through a unique TED experience. Canary is excited to be participating in this inaugural event, and we think you might dig it too.
From the TEDxPhilly Website: “This daylong event will investigate the theme of right here, right now through multiple lenses and in textured ways. It is within local and personal spaces that larger political, cultural, and economic decisions are negotiated. The TEDx platform provides a space for Philadelphia-connected speakers and audience members to address some of the most pressing issues of today, and examine how those issues shape and are shaped by our sense of ‘here’ and ‘now’.”
TEDxPhilly - Right Here, Right Now will feature an amazingly diverse line up of speakers, performances, and experiences, geared “towards a more purposeful, socially responsible future.” Organizers of this event have long been interested in cultivating change in Philadelphia to create “a lasting impact, locally grown” through events like Barcamp, Ignite, Refresh, and many more community driven events inspired by Philly. This event promises to be an intense experience, facilitating change and encouraging real innovationin the region. Are you up to the challenge?
From the TEDxPhilly Website: We are calling all change-agents to attend. TEDxPhilly is also a framework where Philadelphians will converge to share ideas that matter, and hopefully, turn those ideas into actionable outcomes after the event. The audience is as important as the presenters and will reflect the many passionate, motivated, and hard-working individuals who are part of the broader community of Philadelphia. Are you ready to be inspired?
Applications for TEDxPhilly will be accepted through November 1. Much in the same way as the day’s proceedings have been carefully curated, participants will be selected to insure an engaged, enthusiastic audience. The application is intended to be thought provoking, highlighting interests and motivations of individuals interested in the event. By organizing their thoughts & intentions, attendees can better prepare themselves for the TEDx experience and know that fellow participants are driven and interested in effecting change within their communities as well.
