Miro Dance Theatre continues to host the innovative Open Studio Series at Girard College, providing audiences with open access to the creative process and a chance to see and respond to new dance works in progress. On April 17, the company will present a behind-the-scenes look at Self-Portrait, a new dance piece exploring the work of artist Frida Kahlo. Commissioned by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Miro will premiere the finished work at the museum on May 2. Be sure to also save-the-date for Cinco de Miro, the company’s annual fundraiser on May 9. Rosenbach Museum & Library is gearing up for a busy spring season. On April 2, the museum will be honored with an official State Historical Marker by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, in recognition of the lasting contributions of museum co-founder, Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach. Next up is the Rosenbacchanal, an annual benefit event, and the opening of There’s a Mystery There: Sendak on Sendak, a major retrospective highlighting the museum’s vast collection of the work of famed author and illustrator Maurice Sendak. The exhibit opens to the public on May 6, 2008 and runs through May ‘09. The Wilma Theater will stage the Philadelphia premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice from April 30 – June 1.
