Dependable, comprehensive and thorough in their planning and execution of a campaign, Megan and Canary Promotion are an ally and a partner in our work and to many others in the arts community.
We are thrilled with the increased, broad and consistent media attention brought to Philadelphia Young Playwrights’ public presentations and events through our work with Canary Promotion + Design.
Canary has been working with me for almost two years and has made a significant contribution to my business. On the PR side we have made great in-roads in the world of the internet, giving me a presence on prominent comedy websites and allowing me to reach a broad spectrum of people. This presence has helped me significantly build my fan base across the country.
Canary has also done great things with my website and myspace presence. We have been able to re-design parts of my site and update it regularly with content making it a must-see destination for comedy fans surfing the web. SInce Canary has come on board I have gotten rave reveiws from established and new fans praising my site for both its entertainment value and strong informational content.
I couldn't be happier with Megan, Mason and Emaleigh -- they are a delight to work with. They give honest, straight-forward advice and are strong collaboators who really listen to my needs and work diligently to achieve my goals. Bringing Canary on board was one of the best decisons I've made and I am very happy with the results they are providing.
After the first production The Wilma worked on with Megan and Canary Promotion, I knew we had found a true collaborator in targeting all of the constituents the Wilma hopes to reach. Megan is on time, on budget, truly a pro. After our first season of working together we have broadened out our connection to many new media outlets and I have a stack of coverage for every event we produced to prove it.
Let's face it, a web site is a very personal thing, like you wouldn't want someone you didn't know REALLY well sharing your toothbrush or looking at your delete emails. But somehow Mason made me feel comfortable that we could create the site together and find a way to merge my style with his brilliant design sense. It was all natural and easy and I loved the process and what we came up with. He was gentle and even called me the next morning. The site is our love child.
Your efforts truly paid off for us on tour. We had folks come out to our show in every town that you did press. It really made an impact. You did great work!
Megan and Mason, and Canary as a whole, are really thoughtful, caring individuals who are going to give your project the time and energy it deserves. I found their enthusiasm and dedication to the task at hand inspiring. I would particularly recommend them to a band who needed help garnering and organizing press for an impending tour. They do a great job with the press kit design as well.
megan and mason are always the consummate professionals, with plenty of indie cred to spare. they scored us quality press and lots of it, supporting both our release and tour dates. the next time around i know who i'm calling first. i couldn't recommend canary promo highly enough.
When I thought about creating a web site for my artwork, I couldn't even organize my thoughts at first about it. I had no idea how sites came together or what was possible. So I basically threw all these ideas at Mason and told him to go for it. Half of them weren't realistic but everything that was, he developed into even better plans. Mason was awesome to work with because he took the time to talk to me about my work before he started creating the site. My biggest fear was that the site designer wouldn't understand my aesthetic and then my work would look out of place on my own web site. But he really got it and blended his ideas with mine seamlessly.
"Canary really boosted our profile as a press-worthy local act. Few other local bands have as much press on their websites as we do now.”
"When I first contacted Canary Promotion for a website design, I really didn't know much about it. (My thing is music.) All I knew was that I wanted a professional website. Mason took the time to explain all the options and sent various examples of what could be done... I was amazed. He kept in touch with me every step of the way. He ended up designing two sites a "lo-fi" (for people with dial up) and a "hi-fi" (for people with high speed Internet). I am very pleased with the way my website turned out, and I have received many compliments. THANKS MASON. I highly recommend Canary Promotion.”
Mason and Megan at Canary Promotion + Design are really lovely to work with, and I'm so pleased with my new Flash portfolio site at barddesign.com. Mason transformed my boring, static site into a dynamic, comprehensive site powered by a terrific backend content management system I'm just thrilled with.
“Having been in several other independent bands besides Blivit, I know how hard it is to build even a half reputable press package. Megan and Mason’s amiability and professionalism aside, they simply get results. Thanks to Canary Promotion + Design, people actually know Blivit. We will definitely be working with them again in the near future.”
I've actually GOTTEN business because Desire Media's web page looked better than everyone else's. I've been told that again and again.
Meeting Megan and Mason is one of the best things that has happened to our band. Even though our working contract has expired, Megan is still getting us reviews and helping us out whenever she can. They treat musicians with respect because they are working musicians themselves. They aren't suits trying to capitalize off of naive artists. They are experienced musicians helping bands that they love to listen to. Their approach is honest, refreshing and very appreciated. We love them.
I'm very impressed with Canary. They found all the right pieces to our press campaign and were very adaptive as the goals changed. I couldn't be happier and would not hesitate at all to call Megan again to work one of my bands. The work ethic and love for music found with Canary lead the charge.
Megan and Mason Wendell, of Canary Promotion + Design, approach every aspect of running their company with dedication, conviction and artistry. The services they provide are dynamically executed and have subsequently garnered both attention and credibility for their impressive client roaster. My insight comes two fold. I work with Canary on a regular basis as the booking agent for one of my own clients, Hero Pattern. Additionally I had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Canary and see many of their clients in action as they showcased during the 2003 NEMO Music Showcase and Conference in Boston. The bands that Megan and Mason represent stood out as being the most professional, original and compelling of the 250 bands invited to perform. Miranda Sound, Lanky, the Remedy Session, Val Emmich, the Method and Result and Hero Pattern played to packed rooms thanks to the promotional efforts of Canary. Were it not for the exposure cultivated by this unique company, these talented musicians may not enjoy the attention they justly deserve.
Canary Promo kicked some major ass promoting our play! If they were martial arts experts, Canary Promo could even woop Bruce Lee's butt, and send him home crying to his mama. We gave them an impossible task: help us to sell out a weekend of performances for a bizarre indie rock opera in Philly. They did it! Their graphic design work was perfect, and they got us featured articles in so many cool local papers. Because of their efforts, we sold out all our performances and are going to revive the play for a longer run. We've worked with a variety of PR people of the years, and they truly are the best.
Canary Promotion turned out to be the final and most important piece to my career's puzzle. Megan took me on for the best of reasons...because she liked my music and through her sleepless nights she helped me become a professional. She took on the project as if it was her own. Pleased with the results, I came back to Canary when I wanted a more professional looking website, this time hiring Mason to work his designing magic. I had seen the Canary website and knew that Mason did very sleek and unique work. I sincerely believe that the appearance of my website made people take me more seriously as an artist and musician when they were busy surfing the web. I know this because people keep telling me how impressed they were when first stumbling on the site. The fact that the website created that perception about me is invaluable. And in addition to the booking and the publicity and the design, Megan and Mason still find time to create and perform music themselves. It is painfully clear that they love what they do.
I'm not sure if anyone would know about my music without Megan's hard work. Exposure is the name of the game. So get yourself a publicist, and get one who will work their ass off for you. Finding opportunities, chasing leads and going that extra mile. Megan and Canary do just that.
I could not be more pleased after working with Canary on The Redemption Versus Series "NE vs. NC" compilation, the Race For Titles s/t CD and the Motion City Soundtrack/Schatzi split EP! The continual professionalism and high return from my very fair investment makes it an automatic decision to use them for future projects. I will also employ them to work with my other companies, and am looking forward to Mason’s design work on the new Redemption website.
Canary Promotion has helped us gain national and international attention. Megan's persistence and work ethic has placed us in quality magazines and online sites including A.P. magazine. While out on tour, they set up interviews, and had key press people attend our shows. Thanks for everything.
Working with Canary has been a very positive experience for Copper Dalton. We needed a publicity agent who would work with us and address our needs as an independent band, not somebody would would give us the "cookie cutter" treatment - Canary fit our needs exactly. Megan was instrumental in getting us visibility for our CD release party, securing reviews with local and national press, and scoring a print interview with a local weekly column. Plus, with the monthly status reports, we know exactly where the music was sent and who's listening. With Canary on our side, we know that our publicity and promotional needs are taken care of.
I would definitely recommend Megan and Canary. She did our PR for our recent West Coast tour and she was actually successful in getting us radio airplay, interviews, features in local papers, etc. Stuff I definitely couldn't have done on my own as I don't have the time or the savvy that she has for working with media. Even after we finished the tour, she continued to follow up with the magazines and radio stations that couldn't get to us in time. We're having two magazine features in November and we've been added to radio stations since the tour, all because Megan didn't just drop the ball once the tour was done. I worked with her on a previous compilation release and was floored by what a great job she did getting press and radio, which is why I decided to work with her on our tour. And I've recommended her to other bands here in Seattle, which I certainly wouldn't do if she hadn't come through for us. From the first time I met Megan, I was impressed by her handle on the "business" aspect of this whole music deal, as most of us just want to play music and not worry about all that crap. She handles it professionally and without all the sleaze.
The Canary folk have this rare combination of brilliant and honest that is key in working with promotion. No excuses, no apologies, just straight-forward answers and results. They both continue to play in their band the Method and Result as well, which means they legitimately understand the more important word of the phrase "music business."
