Canary Promotion Wins Two Awards from the PRSA!
We were honored to be recognized this week at the 2013 Pepperpot Awards presented by the Public Relations Society of America’s Philadelphia chapter. I’m not only extremely proud of my hardworking team here at Canary and grateful to the clients who give us opportunities to work on exciting, creative and thought-provoking projects, but I was also particularly proud to be a representative of the cultural community at this PR industry event. Canary received a first-place Pepperpot Award for our PR and marketing work on the Association for Public Art’s Open Air and a second-place “Ladle” for our communications campaign for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia initiative. I consider myself very fortunate to do the work I love every day with a group of smart and dedicated people. Winning awards for that work is icing on the cake.

Canary Promotion Recognized with Two Awards from the
Public Relations Society of America Philly
PHILADELPHIA (Dec. 5, 2013) — This week, greater Philadelphia-based communications firm Canary Promotionreceived two awards at the annual Pepperpot Awards, given by the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The Pepperpots were created to recognize the best-in-class public relations campaigns and tactics from the Philadelphia region.
Canary Promotion won a first-place Pepperpot Award in “Special Events and Observances, 7 Days or More, Budget over $15K” for its work with the Association for Public Artduring Open Airin fall of 2012. The multi-faceted campaign for the light-based public art installation by noted artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer helped draw over 17,000 in-person visitors to the Ben Franklin Parkway. In addition to 7,000 downloads of the project’s iPhone app and more than 5,800 submitted messages in over 20 languages, the project garnered hundreds of press hits both regionally and internationally.
Canary also received a second-place Ladle Award in “Public Service” for a communications campaign for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge. The three-year funding initiative encouraged Philadelphians, from established arts organizations and creative businesses to independent artists of all types, to submit their ideas for new and innovative arts projects that would take place in or benefit the city of Philadelphia. The campaign exceeded its grant submission goals by 40 percent; raised awareness of the foundation’s programs through community outreach, media relations and marketing communications; and connected 114 artists and organizations to $7.5 million in new funding.
