MYSQL ERROR: "MySQL server has gone away"
On a site with a very large database I was getting the MYSQL ERROR: "MySQL server has gone away"
Solved this in XAMPP by altering the configuration file (C:xamppmysqlbinmy.cnf) to include the line:
[mysqld]
max_allowed_packet=26M
This increased the resources available to MYSQL.
In installations not using xampp, you might need to find the my.ini file that is used to configure MYSQL.
